To start, the goal of this was to create our own software with reliability and safety in mind. Its main purpose is to control the static fire test bed and to record data from the experiment such that we can use it to evaluate our design and see how well it could preform when it is placed inside the flight ready rockets.
The front end was a series of python scripts and to this point still utilizes part of it gather the raw data from the control board and format so that the operator can understand the current state and parameters of the system. Now we have moved to a web server front end that primarily uses Vue and Strawberry GraphQL that pulls from the telemetry python script and host an ip that streams the current state of the data from the control window. As well, the speed of the system is of great importance, such that any data collected needs to be clean and at a rate such that the states of the system ibn actio are clearly defined. The logging of this is of equal presedence.
As well we have a live video feed with an ardu cam derivative however we hope to switch to a network based setups such that we can host a more powerful camera with audio and move away frm the linear execution we have so far of a board polling sensors in continuum.
For this coming year the hope is to clean up the code base such that we can fully take advantage of an internet of things solution and allow the static fire to be streamed over the internet. As well by moving to a wireless solution the risk of single wire faults will decrease and allow for us to better communicate and integrate the live video feed with the current telemetry system.
We hope to do this by reaching to more sponsors and to have more help from new memebers this year. This will require the knowledge of python, javascript, C and basic query labnguage from willing participants in this and as well motivation to keep pushing forward considering the tight timeline.
